A day at “Dua Lua” Island - Breathing the pure air of the countryside

Aug 16, 2008 - different from long day tours to Dalat or Phan Thiet, it only took us a day to enjoy the fresh air and picturesque landscape of Dua Lua Island – a newly-found ecological travel spot located in Dong Nai Province which has not been discovered by many city dwellers.

At 8:00 AM, everyone gathered at Van Thanh Bridge to set off. It was about 30 minutes riding by motorbike to the Cat Lai Ferry – then another 10 minutes to the boat station for Dua Lua Island – the only entrance to get there.

It’s cool, sunny and windy - all good conditions for a wonderful trip! There! We finally reached the Island after 5 minutes by boat.

The Island appeared peacefully and beautifully behind the crowded range of red coconut trees. No wonder why it is named “Dua Lua”. Our first impression was a traditional bridge (cau khi) that can only be found in Vietnam. Without hesitance, we decided to cope with the challenge – passing “cau khi”. It’s time to rest.

We “settled down” after choosing a nice “roof” with some hammocks and enjoyed our late breakfast yet delicious enough while the wind kept whiffing. Besides us is a large lotus lake in which the flowers were blooming.

The whole team then had a nice and long river swimming with many activities such as: boating contest, swimming contest… that turned us into exhausted and hungry.

We had a special lunch with various countryside dishes such as: grilled chicken, grilled fish…that tasted different and wonderful. Everybody then lied down for a short nap prior getting back to the city.

Though it’s short, it’s interesting enough for those who wish to relax and spend their weekends in the countryside still do not need to go outside Hochiminh City.

And again, Sadavi people had one more opportunity to cement its team spirit through a “healthy” trip like this.
